Curatorial Text:

Alexandre Lemaire is an interior designer, architect, and collector. From the age of six, he kept pins, stamps, posters, and matchboxes. He currently collects in an orderly and devoted manner all the forms of monkeys, watches, furniture from the 20th century, lamps, books, and art, among other objects. Within his work as an interior designer, the prominence of light made him fall in love with lamps. Since he lived in France –his native country– he has guarded lights and owns more than 300 of them which he continues to acquire. Beyond brands or authors, the collector favors form, sheer taste being passionate about rarities. For him, collecting means gathering, uniting, growing, connecting with history, with the memories and moments of past times and the memories of others.
